The app is free. The key is the only thing you buy.
Blocking your own apps should not be behind a paywall, so it is not. The Bluetooth key is a one-time purchase — no subscription, no renewal, nothing that expires and takes your blocking with it.
Spark charges once, for a physical object. The app that does the blocking is free and has no subscription attached to it, and the Bluetooth key is a single payment in rupees quoted before GST. There is no tier that unlocks a feature, no monthly plan, and nothing that stops working if you stop paying — because after the first payment there is nothing left to pay.

What is free, and what you are buying
The line is drawn at the same place as the physics: software is free to copy, and a small manufactured object is not.
Free, with no key at all
- Blocking any app on your phone, grouped into modes.
- Locking in one tap — offline, with Bluetooth off, and without an account.
- Timed sessions, so you can run the whole system before you buy anything.
- Five emergency unlocks, so you are never shut out of your own phone.
- Strict mode on Android, which blocks the uninstall and the settings bypass while a session is running.
None of that is a trial. It does not expire, and no feature above moves behind a paywall later.
What the key buys you
One thing, and it is the thing the free app cannot do on its own: it moves the unlock off the phone and into the room. A timer ends whether you have changed your mind or not. A key does not — it waits, in the kitchen, for you to get up.

Buy more than one, pay less each
Most people who buy a second key buy it for a flatmate, a partner or a study group — a key in someone else's room is considerably harder to fetch than one in your own.

GST, and the number you actually pay
Every price on this site is quoted excluding GST, which is the convention Indian businesses buy on. GST of 18% is added at checkout, so one key at ₹999 comes to ₹1,178.82 paid — and you get a GST invoice carrying our GSTIN and HSN code 8517, which is what your accountant will ask for.
Nothing else is added. Shipping is free anywhere in India, there is no handling charge, no packaging charge and no payment surcharge. The figure Razorpay shows you is the figure above and nothing more.
Payment is UPI, cards or netbanking through Razorpay. We do not currently offer cash on delivery. The full terms are in the shipping policy and the refund and cancellation policy.
Things we do not charge extra for
- Shipping, anywhere in India our couriers reach.
- A GST invoice on every order.
- Replacement, free and including postage, if it arrives damaged and you tell us within seven days.
- A one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
- The app, its modes, its schedules and every update to them.
Not covered, so that it is said plainly: battery replacement, physical damage, water damage and loss. The battery is a standard AAA you can buy anywhere. Full detail in the refund and cancellation policy.
Why there is no subscription
A subscription makes sense when a company carries an ongoing cost on your behalf — servers, bandwidth, someone watching a queue. Spark carries none of that for the thing you actually bought. Your phone does the blocking through the operating system, and your phone checks the key over Bluetooth. There is no round trip to us in the loop, so there is no recurring cost to pass on, so charging you monthly would be charging you for our convenience rather than for anything you receive.
It also changes what you own. A key that is a credential for a service stops working when the service does. A key your own phone checks locally does not — it keeps working with no account, no network and nothing to renew, whatever happens to us.
Several of the products in this category charge a subscription, and in at least one case the physical fob is inert without one — you buy the hardware and it does nothing until you also hold a paid plan. That is a materially different deal from a one-time purchase, and it is the single thing most worth checking on any product you are weighing against this one.

The awkward questions
Is there a subscription?
No. There is no subscription, no renewal and nothing to cancel. The blocking app is free and stays free; the Bluetooth key is bought once. If Spark stopped selling keys tomorrow, the one on your desk would carry on working, because the unlock is checked by your phone rather than by our servers.
Is the app free even if I never buy a key?
Yes. You can run the whole system on a timer with no key at all, live with it for a fortnight, and decide from experience whether moving the unlock onto a physical object is the thing that would help you. Then buy hardware, or do not, and have spent nothing finding out.
Do I need an account?
Not to lock or unlock — that is entirely local to your phone. Checkout is guest checkout too: an email address, a phone number and a delivery address. An account exists only to keep your own settings in step across your own devices and to bind a key to you.
Is there a student discount?
No. There is no student discount and no student code. The only discount that exists is volume pricing — buy more than one key and the price per key drops, which is the ladder shown above.
