30-Day Challenge

Pick one habit and hold it for a month. The Spark app logs your locked hours, so the leaderboard is real — member against member, city against city.

Most challenges run on promises: you tick a box saying you did it, and so does everyone else, and the leaderboard is a list of who is most willing to tick.

This one runs on locked hours. The Spark app logs the time your phone spends locked with the key, so the board ranks something that actually happened. A new cohort starts every month; you pick one habit and hold it for thirty days alongside everyone else who started with you.

How it runs

Pick one of three habits

Whichever you pick, the Spark app logs every hour your phone spends locked with the key.

  1. 01

Under 2 hours of screen time

The hardest of the three and the one most people pick first. Lock the phone for the long stretches of your day and let the hours you did not spend scrolling add up on the board.

  2. 02

    No phone before 9 AM

The morning belongs to you. The phone is locked from the night before, and the key stays across the room until nine. It pairs naturally with the 6 AM Lock-in.

  3. 03

    Asleep by 11

The phone is locked by eleven and stays locked until morning. It pairs naturally with the 9 PM Wind-down.

Who it's for

Made for people who…

  • People who start strong and fade

A cohort that started the same day as you, and a board that shows where you stand, carry you through the second and third weeks — where most resolutions quietly stop.

  • Friends, flatmates and colleagues

Start in the same month and it becomes a friendly competition. City against city makes it a bigger one.

  • Anyone who wants proof

At the end you have thirty days of locked hours, logged by the app, rather than a feeling that it went fine.

Before you join

What you need

  • Your Spark key and the paired Spark app
  • One of the three habits, chosen before day one
  • A place for the key that is inconvenient on purpose
  • Optional: the Lock-in or the Wind-down, whichever matches your habit

In the room

The rules

  1. One habit per cohort. Change next month, not mid-way.
  2. Only locked hours count — the board ranks what the app logged.
  3. Emergency unlocks are for emergencies, not for the tenth day.
  4. Winners get a pin. Everyone else gets thirty days they did not have before.

Questions

About the 30-Day Challenge

What does the leaderboard actually show?

Locked hours, as logged by the Spark app, ranked member against member and city against city. It shows time locked, never what you did on your phone — the app does not know that.

Can I join mid-month?

The challenge runs in monthly cohorts, so you join the next one. That way everyone on the board started on the same day.

What if I break the habit one day?

Carry on. The board ranks total locked hours across the month, so one bad day costs you that day and nothing more.

What do winners get?

A pin. It is small on purpose — the thirty days are the prize.
